Japan

Japan, the land of the rising sun, has a unique culture in which technology and thousand-year-old traditions live side by side. It is not hard to be charmed by Japanese courtesy and "formality".

You'll be swept into a fantastic world of manga, kimono, skyscrapers and spectacular nature, discovering a country and a people with a great deal to offer.

The school system in Japan

The Japanese school system is one of the best in the world, with excellent facilities. School runs Monday to Friday, roughly 8:30 to 15:30, with a half-day every other Saturday. Students and teachers are responsible for cleaning and tidying the school themselves.

In the afternoon, almost everyone joins the student-run club activities — sports clubs like baseball, football and athletics, but also gardening, cooking, music and film. The seifuku (school uniform) is compulsory.

What they say about us

I've never felt so welcome outside Italy as in this country, even though it is so different. At first everything seemed strange; I made plenty of gaffes, but I always felt accepted. Thanks to my host family and everyone I met, I learned so much and realised nothing is a given — not even a glass of water. My year in Japan was FANTASTIC.
