France

France has always been the home of a love of art and refinement. Enchanting châteaux, majestic cathedrals, great museums and elegant bistros — but also rivers, valleys and small villages — testify to the richness of its culture, and to that very French "joie de vivre".

The French have given the world writers, artists and philosophers who deeply influenced European culture, along with culinary treasures like crème brûlée, camembert and champagne. Beyond art, they are passionate about sport — football, rugby and cycling above all.

The school system

The French system is very similar to the Italian one. The Lycée, attended by students aged 15 to 18, comes in three types — general, technological or vocational — with literary, scientific, economic and IT tracks.

Schools are open six days a week with 25 to 30 lessons; there are few extracurricular activities, as most cultural and sporting life happens outside school.

Info

Would you like to spend a term to a school year in a French town? The country of the Revolution, the Eiffel Tower and writers like Sartre and Proust.

With AFSAI you can immerse yourself in the daily life of young French people, attend a local school and deepen your language skills. The programme is for students aged 15 to 17 with a basic level of French, hosted by local families under the supervision of qualified staff selected by AFSAI.

What they say about us

A fantastic experience. Although I thought I'd mostly deepen my French, thanks to the other exchange students I shared something incredible and grew even more. It's a magnificent opportunity to be catapulted into another country, to have two identities and feel like a more complete citizen.
